Construction Update

August 1, 2019

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) advises motorists, businesses and residents of on-going construction activities at Redwood Road and I-215 North.

Tentative Work Schedule

Crews will begin bridge painting activities this week. Single lane closures on I-215 and Redwood Road should be expected during non-peak hours. Asphalt grinding will take place this week during nighttime hours. Motorists should plan on single lane closures during this activity on Redwood Road. Work is underway to complete the medians on Redwood Road at the Diverging Diamond Interchange. This will necessitate lane shifts and shoulder closures.

Exercise caution while navigating the temporary traffic configuration.

PLAN AHEAD!

Plan Ahead! Friday night, August 23 at 9 p.m., the I-215 North/Redwood Road interchange will be under a full closure through Monday morning, August 26 at 5 a.m. This closure is necessary to finalize the interchange conversion to a fully functioning Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI). Alternate route information is forthcoming.

Project Overview

To improve traffic flow and reduce congestion, UDOT is creating a Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) on I-215 North at Redwood Road. Work will include:

Construction of a new bridge structure over I-215 (Underway)

Realigned ramp configurations (Underway)

Pavement rehabilitation on Redwood Road from the Salt Lake County line to 500 South (Completed)

Two lanes of existing concrete pavement replaced on I-215 (Completed)
