Uniting Neighbors

Download the North Salt Lake Emergency Preparedness Handbook

The Uniting Neighbors meetings are held the 2nd Wednesday of every month at 7:30 p.m. (at City Hall).  Participants in Uniting Neighbors provide all residents of North Salt Lake opportunities to see the variety in our community and to nurture a deep respect for our differences. We seek to celebrate our similarities in order to provide a common ground for healthy unity. We believe North Salt Lake is rich in diverse people, resources, ideas, hopes, capabilities and heritage. We work to help build a community where neighbors watch out for each other and prepare for unforeseen emergencies. We invite everyone in North Salt Lake to join us, person to person, neighborhood to neighborhood, business to business, in bringing together all people for the common good.

We support the Uniting Neighbors concepts, which include:

  • A caring adult in the life of every child.
  • A safe place to live.
  • Children having a healthy start in life.
  • Our youth developing marketable skills.
  • The availability of service opportunities.
  • A community prepared for emergencies.

The city has prepared a downloadable PDF entitled, "North Salt Lake Uniting Neighbors Handbook." This handbook has special sections dedicated to: Emergency Preparedness, Neighborhood Beautification, Homeland Defense, Solving Neighborhood Problems, Neighborhood Watch, Community Building, and the CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) program. The Uniting Neighbors Handbook is downloadable, and a link to the handbook can be found at the top of this page.

Additionally, on a regular basis, the city offers Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training classes for all those interesed. The classes usually run for 7 consecutive weeks. Classes are at night and the fee is usually $40.00; however, due to a government grant, residents can become CERT trained for only $35.   2010 CERT Training Schedule
